This is a painting of a southeast African cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus) and one of my favourite artworks I’ve completed. The vivid colour and intensity of those eyes make this a statement piece that will draw attention in any room.

Southeast African cheetah have a bulkier build and are more golden than other cheetah species. They are listed as Vulnerable, while other species of cheetah are listed as endangered to critically endangered. The title ‘Cry for Conservation’ evokes both a literal and symbolic ‘cry’ (the calls of animals, the silence left by those disappearing, and a human plea for awareness and action)
